A Table and Chairs

I have been squealing with delight for the past few days I can’t even SEE straight!!!  You know when you’ve LITERALLY stumbled upon the most AMAZING thing ever, and if you’ve been searching for that perfect thing and nothing will do until you find it when you least expect it, and then BAM!  It’s RIGHT THERE more amazing than you ever imagined?  Well, that is the story of my kitchen dining set.

I had this REALLY great kitchen table and chairs (8 of them)… all SOLID as a rock, Bernhardt, like amazing quality, purchased brand new when I got married.  And of course TIME passed, tastes changed, and I wanted a cleaner sleeker look, one that I liked the maintenance of.  So fast forward last year, I stumbled upon my new table at a local consignment shop….

You can tell I’m a neutrals girl… I love to add splashes of color thru my accessories, but when it comes to some of these things like furniture, I love them clean and neutral and they seem to remain “classic” longer.  Make sense?

My venetian glass chandelier that I love….  and you can see my walls have a blue/green color to them.  My crown is almost a putty color.

So then to find the PERFECT chairs…. well….  I had shared with you lovies several ideas of chairs not long ago (HERE) that were inspirations of my dream chairs…  a little more than I wanted to spend!

So then here I am bee-boppin around town with my kids as I came across a consignment shop, and it was like rays of WHITE LIGHT with angels singing!!  … There before my eyes were my dream chairs.   They need some new cushions, so here is what I put together…

There were only 6 so I need to have 2 head chairs made… The picture doesn’t do justice but HOLY SMOKES I had another “angels singing” moment the other day when I found the HEAD CHAIR fabric….  Brace yourself for this one people….

I call it STARDUST…. the picture doesn’t do it justice but… IT’S VINYL!!  And it’s SPARKLY!!!  Isn’t that INSANE???  Am I crazy for using this fabric?  I’m IN LOVE beyond love with this!

The moral of the story is this… Don’t just BUY whatever just to BUY something.  Hold off for what you’re REALLY looking for.  You’ll KNOW it when you see it.  Period.  I knew RIGHT away and I couldn’t stop thinking about them when I found each of these pieces… the table… the chairs.. then the fabric.

Please chime in with your thoughts….  The pink “confetti” velvet will be the cushions on the Brass/Cane chairs… the “stardust”  will be the entire arm chairs….  Love it? Hate it?  I thought about flip flopping the fabrics, but then I thought for ease to clean?  Or… should they ALL be the same?… Now, I’m kinda thinking so….

Thoughts?  Chime in!!!

Oh…. and … on the subject of golden goodness… I can be taking lovely notes at my table on THESE or YOU can be… if you chime in to my giveaway….

It’s about Five

Ok… PLEASE give me feedback.  DORKY or not?  I thought they were SUPER cool aviators… Regularly like $450 for like $100.  I said COME TO MAMA!!!  … there is a problem here, right???

Words like “FASHION DASH” (thank you Neiman Marcus) DO work on people like me when they know it’s a DEAL.  I am like “READY, SET, SPEND!” and off I go.  Please don’t judge.  I’m venting here. So if I see cute comfy t-shirt dresses at Old Navy for $13.99, guess what?  I’ll have one in every color thank you because it’s a GOOD DEAL.  Ugh.  Not good.

5.  It’s pretty sad when the General Manager of your local Target knows you.

He got to know me December 1st when I pulled out my camera to video the DIE HARDS busting a move before 8 am when Neiman Marcus had that collaboration with Target.  He says to me, “You’re BACK!!”  And “Back for more??” Yup. How many days this week has it been that I’ve visited your lovely store?  …. Yeah… more than we care to count!

Behind the storefront is this DARLING, and I mean SO cool building behind the main shop.  This building is where all the magic happens, where the designing takes place, where consultations and deals are made, and amazing flower dreams come true!

You’re looking at a sneak peek of REALLY amazing elements they use and incorporate into their designs.  They love using natural elements of the earth, like those pieces of wood, combining the metal bars for a completely different artful floral/botanical displayBut hiring The Fleuriste for your flowers and events is JUST the beginning of their great shop.  They contacted me to carry Honestly Margo, and the moment I walked into their store, (and you guys know when this happens I pull out the camera and go nuts and my jaw drops!) I fell in love.  This was NO ordinary flower shop…  So…. here they are, and I am, to spread the love to YOU and to share  THEIR greatness with you!

Dining Chairs

I vaguely remember sharing this topic with you before, in fact even possibly a few of these pics you might have seen.  (kinda like Pinterest… HAVEN’T I PINNED THAT BEFORE??)

I got a fabulous dining table for my kitchen minus the chairs… Chairs weren’t part of the package.  So for now, I am living with my older Bernhardt chairs that need to GO.  Here’s the table and what I have going on with them that need replacing…

All of these from MY FAVORITE of all places 1stdibs.

Aren’t ALL of these just FABULOUS???  Are you seeing a pattern??  i.e.  BRASS  i.e. SLEEK .   I need 8.  All these things I remember from the 70s are SOOOO in…  I have 2 of my mother in law’s old brass chairs and we need to dig out the rest from WAY back in some storage unit we’ve got…  but lawd knows what condition I’ll find them in IF I can get the hubster to get on it.  You know what I’m talking about.  So then now, to possibly find something local and maybe half the price of some of these, I’m all over it.  (since getting to the storage unit won’t happen till I collect my social security!)   Thoughts?

Dulce Delights

I recently visited one of my fave furniture consignment shops in Dallas, Dulce, and had to share some amazingness with you.  This shop is a very upscale and upscale gallery of great furniture, art and accessories.  I’ve shared some of their beautiful things with you before HERE, and whenever I go, I’m excited to see what new delights I’ll find.    Each time I visit, I want to come home with a Uhaul full of new furnishings and adornments for my house.  I kept snapping pics going, “OH I love THIS and OOOooooh look at THAT!”.  I’m sure the owners were like “um ok lady enough pictures already!”

imm Living (what a cute name!) is one of the funnest home accessory lines I’ve recently spotted in in one of my fave shops in town, Luxe Objects (and those NOT in town, they can still hook you up with some goodness).  As cute as the name is, the whimsical and unexpected delights that imm Living offers is always a delight and a surprise.   These beauties in my opinion can go in any home with pretty much any design style.  They’re fun, yet classic, yet hip and stylish.  Here are some and I fell in love with.

Ribs, Greek Style

What’s for dinner?  A highly requested main course in my house, ribs, GREEK style! It’s finger lickin good and OH so easy.  Ready?

Here’s what you need…

ingredients for pork ribs

Pork baby back ribs

Olive Oil

Fresh Lemon

Jane’s Crazy Mixed Up Salt

Cavenders

Garlic Powder

I first season the underside, then flip it over and do the top, and stick it in the oven like this.  I do not use oregano as most Greeks do for this particular recipe just because the Cavenders has some oregano plus a blend of other great seasonings that gives it a wonderful flavor that isn’t so strong as the plain oregano is.

Throw it in the oven at 425 for about an hour… eyeball it.  I hate to say, that’s how I do most of my cooking… very little measuring, all eyeballing.

Seriously finger lickin good.  I had 2 slabs that I cut up to fit into my pan.

so the view is MUCH more sparkly and bright leading into my lovely pink palace of storage goodness.  The look will somewhat flow since it’s a smaller version of what I have in the mud room, and it was a GREAT price.  Lowe’s!  Plus with my ebates, it was a simple decision to make!   I’ll keep you posted on how it looks when it gets in.

4.  I’m sooooooooo happy and excited to announce that ONLINE SHOPPING is now UP AND RUNNING for this sweet new brand.

3.  I have to pat myself on the back.  I feel like I’m going thru a period of “self discovery” and doing things I would have never thought I’d do.  I just created the Honestly Margo website, and I did it in a week.   It may not be as spectacular as it could have been had I hired someone professional or snazzy or creative as it could have been, but we are brand new, and I am trying to be smart about how we’re spending our money.  So for just being out, I thought this could work.  And when this little baby hits it big time, then we’ll spend the big big bucks on the site! HA!  But for now, I am kinda proud of the hard work I put into it.  That’s all!
