Have you ever had a drink that left you feeling ICK, an experience that you had a LITTLE more than you can handle and now you’re scarred for life? LOL! That’s the case with margaritas and me. I can’t do them any more. Bad college experience left a real bad taste in my mouth let’s just say! I had more than I could handle in a short period of time. No bueno.
Hence why you see very few margarita-ish cocktails here. I really just can’t do them. Selfish of me, I know. But I was open to trying this recipe one of my friends sent me. I said tequila??? Hmmmm… let me be open minded and give this a whirl.
I’m SO glad I did.
This was AMAZING!
Meet the Mexican Martini.
Yup. A martini, ala Mexican style. Ole’! Switch out the gin and vermouth and instead… TEQUILA! And add some simple syrup. The sweet of the syrup and the salty of the olive juice is pure perfection! I’m SO glad I said YES to trying this.
The beautiful thing is, these are all things you might have on hand. Tequila isn’t anything fancy. Simple syrup = sugar + water. Limes? Maybe. Green olives? Surely in your refrigerator somewhere. Voila. Done.
- 1.5 oz. Lime Juice
- 1.5 oz. Simple Syrup
- 3 oz. Tequila
- 0.5 oz. Olive Juice
Shake with ice, pour into martini glass, garnish with olives and enjoy!
I get asked a lot about my shaker. I got it years ago at the Target Neiman Marcus collaboration. Remember that fabulous event? WAY back long ago (from when I first started blogging! LOL!) You can see it HERE.
Anyways, that shaker unfortunately isn’t available any longer BUT here’s one that’s all gold and pretty (wink!). And some martini glasses you might like too!
What are your plans this weekend? Anything fun? Tell me about it!
Cheers to the weekend!
