So finally. I am here with the REVEAL. I have had this long over due. The decisions, the thinking, the analysis on all of it… You can see the discussions of it HERE and HERE, along with before pics. Because TODAY my friends, you get the AFTER!!
So, needless to say, I ended up KEEPING the dark wood, as it was advised it’s SUCH a classic thing, the wood IS an expensive thing to ruin if I paint it anything else, resale value of the house, blah blah blah. So…. I dressed up the room ala GIRL style. And even though I had ideas of the fabrics I was going to use, I stumbled across an ENTIRE new color palate (imagine this… PINK!!), and so my heart JUMPED with JOY when I put it all together.
- An accent fabric used to line the bookcases to soften up the darkness of the wood.
- An iridescent crinkle pink silk for the panels across the 3 big windows.
- A coral-patterend fabric for the roman shades to go on the side patio doors.
That patterned ribbon is the accent on both of the window treatments.
I wanted something with the Greek key type of pattern, and I originally in my head wanted a simple white with black trim, but I knew it would be TOTALLY boring and BLAH against the brown would. It would make it look MORE dreary I think. So I still get that feel AND added my touches of GOLD that are a MUST.
I removed the big bulky orangy/brown leather chair and replaced it with my new white pleather one. I got rid of the bearskin rug and the love seat. I did recycle two club chairs I had downstairs and didn’t even change the fabric. Just left em as is. I also left the big brown desk as is because it’s an expensive and HEAVY BIG BULKY sucker to move down stairs “just because” I wasn’t crazy about it. I already spent plenty of $$ on the window treatments and some of the new accessories and accents, I didn’t want to be a total snot to The Mister and be like, “um hi babe, can I spend MORE of your money just CUZ???” So… I deal with it. Actually, I am going to cover the TOP of the desk with something light (a fabric or SOMETHING) and then cover it in glass.
There are lots of fun stuff I want to show you in here, but I don’t want to do it ALL in this post because today’s post was an overall overview of THE VIEW. I hope you think it’s as lovely as I do!! Anyhoo, so I’m saving the deets and all the fun small stuff to share with you for another post, but you can peek around at a few lovelies in there, including some art from some of my favorite peeps, like my dear friend Erin, a tray I use to throw my watch, ring and bracelets in when I work (because they BUG me) from Rachel, and a NEW piece I have from Rita, which you’ll meet her tomorrow! Oh… and some other lovelies scattered throughout I won from Jessica over at The Aestate. More drooling….
New sparkly light fixture me loves!!!
The window treatments.. up close and personal…
From the lovely Eleni all the way from London… and I did a post on her HERE in fact along with a giveaway….
I HAD to show you one of my OTHER favorite things… this table….. {drooooooling…..HELLO 70’s we meet again!!}
… and who doesn’t love some pretty ROCKS!
So there you have it. It’s not 100% complete… I have a few things left to work on with my bookshelves and the wall spaces. Trying to decide on a gallery wall, a collage of the fam pics, art from my art lovies (because I have plenty that I adore!), a huge statement piece, so I am yet AGAIN indecisive. But, I was TOO excited to NOT show you, because it’s JUST about complete. And well, I just LOVE a place that makes me feel good when I’m there. And this definitely feels like MY space now. It screams IRENE to me and THAT makes me tickled pink!

It is absolutely gorgeous and such a dilemma for many of us with a dark wood paneled wood study…you have not only inspired me but also helped me with some creative ideas to lighten an office space and modernizing it and making it so relevant in todays trends. Most men prefer their office space away from the home and so many women are now needing the home office customized for us.
I love all the detailed accents added to your window treatment and the bookshelves. Everything flows so well and really like how you were able to utilize the beautiful traditional desk but make it work in the new environment and design elements…
Really beautiful work….What a great work environment for all that you do!! You did it!! Congrats!! Marie
