What To Wear: Not Just Any LBD

When in doubt, you can never go wrong with a little black dress.  It’s no secret I love the LBD and I’ve written about it several times, including THIS one that I loved last spring.  So what separates a black dress from the rest of them?  It’s all in the details.  From the trim to hemlines to fabrics to embroidery, there are lots of ways a simple black dress can be anything but simple.  Having a LBD in your closet with some bit of detail can separate you from the rest of the ladies in the room.  You can always be prepared for a dinner, a cocktail party, for anything that might come up even unexpected.

I found this fabulous dress on sale at Balliet’s from Sachin & Babi and paired it with some fabulous Jimmy Choo‘s I snatched up at Nordstrom Rack (talk about a find!).  I thought the peek-a-boo netting that my dress had turned my conservative dress into a bit of a “double-take” dress.  That’s what “Not Just Any LBD” is all about.  The dress has something special about it that makes anything other than ordinary.

Keeping your accessories simple brings out the detail in the dress that you want to showcase.  I kept the accessories subtle and minimal, but with enough to catch a little bit of your attention.  My cuff had a sparkle, but I didn’t over do it anywhere else.  I also just had touches of gold on my shoes and on my Louis Vuitton clutch.
