I wore this dress a few weeks ago that I got a year and a half ago, and my family just looked at me like, “ARE YOU SERIOUS????” They didn’t have to say it. It was written across their face. But I didn’t care. I bee bopped all over town wearing this mocha flowey “gown”. I can’t deny I felt eyeballs on me, I think because I looked “different”… but again, seriously, I didn’t care one bit.
I was walking into Target and saw my reflection in the doors as I entered, and I thought I looked like a stingray with my wings spread, gently rippling in movement as I walked. No joke.
Then, later that evening, we went out, and The Mister says to me, “Are you seriously wearing that out? You look like a flying chipmunk.”… ya… back at ya lover!
Now lemme say a couple of things about this dress:
I know it’s not sexy. It’s not meant to be. I love it because it makes me feel like “the hostess with the mostest”…. Like I should be serving up some fancy cocktails with umbrellas poolside, wearing long beads around my neck and fruit on my head. I feel like a FABULOUS lady from the late 60’s. Vintage, retro and OWNING my sh*t!
Here’s what made me decide to publish this post…. I was recently shopping and actually SAW a Kaftan in the window. Mind you it was white with flowers embroidered on it, but it had the SAME shape as mine. It was a HIP hot shop in a nice area. And I said to myself, “self, you’re on to something here. So what that it looks like a moo moo! LOL!… If you love it, then WEAR IT!”… So my friends, here I am, a “brown blob for the blog”! LOL!…. I poke fun at it, as at the same time, I DO love it!
I felt like I wanted to serve you a cocktail poolside wearing this…. all minus the fruit on my head, the floral pattern on my dress, and long multi colored beads around my neck.
Gimme your honest opinion. I can take it! And you won’t hurt my feelings I promise! Love it or hate it?
Here are some other options if you don’t want to look like a flying chipmunk or a big brown blob, but still love the shape and feel of the kaftan….

Well, you couldn’t look bad if you tried. I have a black dress like this and although it is so comfortable, I feel frumpy in it and I can say it is not a flattering type of outfit… It does bring out the hippy in me but I opt to keep it to myself! Love you and your style!
