Is it just me but are you always gravitating to the same things, slightly different, but overall very similar? I opened up my medicine cabinet where the things I use most regularly sit, and there were some nail polishes…. I think I’m obsessed. These to be exact…
Then I was digging thru my lipstick bin. Yes, I have a lipstick bin. Because it’s another thing that I seem to pick up wherever I go. Why? Because I’m obsessed. I have brands from drugstore to ultra fancy. And the colors? Yup… you guessed it…
So these are some of the older ones I can’t let go of. Bad huh? You can clearly see my hoarding-ness when you see multiples of the same thing, in unopened boxes mind you.
So I really don’t ever touch those.
Then there are the currents that I play around with…
And my currents in my bag right now…
So why is it that we gravitate to some of the same things, almost the same, but with a slight variety to them, but well, not really. Why do we buy the same things over and over? We seem to have this repeat pattern. For me it’s lipsticks, nail polish, shoes in like nudes or light tans, bags in nudes or blushes, even jewelry. Oh ya. White t-shirts. One can never have enough white t-shirts.
I think we want to feel secure and comfortable and I think once we’ve found something that looks good on us, compliments us, it’s safe. So we’re drawn to it again, just a slight variation possibly. It’s kind of a “comfort zone” per se. I almost think I hoard to an extent, certain specific things. For me, it’s the smaller things like the lipstick or jewelry. I will admit, I’m “coming out” and have identified the issue I have, and I am getting better about buying lipsticks and glosses everywhere I go. So that’s good, right?
Am I the only one obsessed, though? Is it just me? Please tell me you are obsessed over certain things, too. Tell me what are some of your hoarding issues….
Oh ya.. notebooks. Ya that’s a biggie too. But I’ve gotten way better about that, too. Sigh.
Life stories, coffee talk and random babble…. I have to admit I’m kinda fascinated by the psychology of what we do and why we do it. That’s the nerd in me. 🙂 Carry on!

HI Irene,
I have no idea how we got together, obviously on Instagram. But i saw your post today and then followed you to here, your Blog. So funny as i am launching a diary very shortly and i just wrote almost the same story about lipsticks, obsessed.
Buy the way as i mentioned on instagram, the sale starts today and i have the most gorgeous ballerina, Pixie in Nude.
I even took a pair for myself, and i am definitely not a Nude type of woman, especially for lipsticks or shoes.
XXXXB.
