I confess that I don’t take time or MAKE time for reading like I’d really like to. I think that needs to change! There are some shades of something or other that I’ve heard of that I need to read??? 🙂
Well, speaking of confessions, I was gifted a book from a beautiful woman. Fate brought us together at a women’s entrepeneur event. At the end of the day we were packing up our things and she turned to me and said the kindest thing… she said I was one of the first people who just introduced myself to her and spoke to her. And for that simple kind thing, she gave me her book. Confessions of an Independent Woman. Aprille Franks-Hunt shares an incredible story of her life, and how each part of her life, from her childhood to present, more specifically, how each MAN in her life, changed her to become the strong woman that she is today. And not only that, but the lessons taught, not only from the men, but even from her friends molded her.
When Aprille handed me her book and told me each chapter was about a different man and I saw 14 chapters, I was like OOOOOoooh! This is gonnnnna be JUICY! And so many parts were! I loved it because it was JUICY and telling to me in so many ways. Not necessarily in dealing with the men in my life because I’m married now, but in relationships in general. It was a book designed to help US as women grow, but it didn’t feel like a “personal growth” book that was so DRY and boring to get through. I genuinely couldn’t put it down and couldn’t wait to hear about her NEXT venture in the NEXT city with the NEXT man!
I think every woman should check this book out. Seriously, I probably wouldn’t have purchased it on my own as a first choice, just because I wouldn’t have thought I NEEDED it… I might have selected some 50 Shades of somethin somethin first… But, I’m SO glad she gave it to me because I DID need it. It was eye opening to see how we deal with those around us, how we PERMIT them to treat us the way we are treated.
Get the book HERE. And while you’re there, even if you THINK you are an independent woman already, still check out Aprille and all the workshops and life coaching she offers. You’ll be SO glad you did!

Irene,
You’re the sweetest! I’m so glad we met and that you got something valuable from reading a part of my life story. We should all be so authentic and free. Life’s a sweet journey better traveled with others, thank you.
