I’m excited to kick off not only the week but the month of June with sparkle, fabulousness and excitement. I can remember growing up back in the day, not only myself but lots of people driving to Dallas to do major “shopping”. Was that you? Well, I’m so happy times have certainly changed, and Oklahoma City has some incredible boutiques that there is no need to ever leave the 405 to get some of the best designers and brands found in the major department stores in Dallas right here in our own backyard. And I like to think we have our very own special locally owned incredible department store I can’t wait to acquaint you with right here.
Meet Balliets. To many of you, myself included, Balliets was my place to go to for my “fancy” dresses. Started in 1936 by Edna Balliet, it’s been a retail icon in Oklahoma City. Formal special occasions, weddings, Greek baptisms, the fancy stuff that you buy the “expensive” things for, and really might have had that notion of your Grandma’s fancy store. Well, if you haven’t been to Balliets lately, you truly don’t know how superb and on point it is with the hottest trends and brands you’re shopping for, from young to old. It’s no longer your “Grandma’s fancy store”.
And the beautiful thing is, it truly is our very own two-story department store right here without the craziness of the mall crowds. Enjoy shopping in the perfectly curated shoe salon, get your casual “run around” clothes, to career wear to Sunday dress, to fabulous handbags, jewelry, accessories and hats, to a complete beauty department upstairs and salon spa. All at your service and all brands that are not your Grandma’s brands….
You’ll see brands like Stuart Weitzman, Jimmy Choo, Miu Miu, Prada, Derek Lam, Halston Heritage, Moschino, Michael Stars, Kate Spade, Julie Vos, Alexis Bittar, Frame Denim and Milly, just to name a few. There’s a wide range from higher end collections to more contemporary lines. The store itself is absolutely stunning, with the bright natural sunlight shining through and the massive glass and travertine stairs centered in the store that lead you to the second floor. It’s all in a setting that is luxurious and elegant and at the same time fresh, bright and airy.
Which brings me to this incredible event this June that Balliets and I are preparing for you! As we approach the upcoming travel season, I’m inviting all of you to a special evening out for a #FashionAdventure….
I’m inviting some of my local blogger friends along with all of YOU, my local loves, (if you’re not near, come from afar!!) who love travel, beauty, fashion and style to join us Thursday, June 18th in the evening for cocktails and canapés, some great travel fashion tips, style advice on packing, some things you might want to take with you on your upcoming trips perhaps, take a look ahead at what’s lined up for fall, and get travel makeup tips from world renowned makeup artist from Trish McEvoy. Plus, discounts that evening for all of you lovelies will be in order!
That spectacular grey building in Classen Curve beside Cafe 501 is one you MUST venture into and skip the big stores out of town. Support local and be fabulous all in one swoop. We must be On Purpose of course {wink}!
So who will be joining me on this FashionAdventure? I can’t wait to see you there!
Cheers to a great week and month ahead!
