In honor of #NationalDressDay, I thought I’d kick off the week with a bit of feminine flair.
I recently attended a black tie event, and ladies were asked to wear floor length gowns. My daughter was to be the focus of the night, so I wanted something elegant, sophisticated, mature yet not matronly, sleek, understated, yet at the same time fantastic. This gown from Halston Heritage was what I chose.
A couple of thoughts about dressing up and what I’m sharing. First, I think if you can find an opportunity once in a blue moon to dress up, DO it. It will make you feel beautiful, make you stand a little taller, and just make you almost come alive a bit. I don’t know what it is about it that it does that for me, but it does, and it did. So if you have an opportunity to dress up and go out, take it.
The second is this style and my style, and thinking about YOUR style. I wanted something out of the ordinary, something that I was hoping I wouldn’t see in the room in addition to mine, something that reflected me. Believe it or not, when I looked at this when I ordered it, I thought to myself, that’s a Greek Goddess gown. And you know what? That’s what I felt like. Wear something that fits YOU and your style. Here’s what happens when you do. You’ll feel even THAT much more amazing in it because it’s really a reflection of YOU.
I personally am in love with one shouldered dresses and tops, and I will tell you that you’ll see a LOT more of these to come. This last year cold shoulder tops were a huge thing and I’ve loved them for years. I did my first post about them way back when HERE in 2015! (I’m not saying I’m a trend setter, BUT I do feel like I am into things way before they come into mainstream…. remember the joggers? I posted about those in 2013 and they came around after that!) Stay tuned for more one shouldered posts not only from me, but from everywhere. I’ve shared some of mine from way long ago HERE, HERE and HERE. I love trying to stay ahead of the trends, so keep plugged into me for what to look for when you shop!
Halston Heritage is one of my favorites. I remember Halston from the 70’s, and I think of this elegant, chic, stylish glam. So I pulled a few Halston Heritage one shouldered gowns for you. In case you have an event coming up, take a look at one of these for your liking. They’re classic, timeless, and you can keep them in your wardrobe for future events to come as well. I paired mine with statement drop earrings, a vintage bag I had, and some gorgeous Jimmy Choos I picked up at Balliet’s too.
