As much as I love trends and some fads, I tend to lean to the more simple and classic timeless looks. I also love the elegance of simplicity and looks that stand the test of time. Style doesn’t mean you have to always wear the hottest this or the newest that. It’s about being put together in a way that looks good and suits you, the occasion, and how you feel best.
So today I wanted to give you a simple style tip that I do often. It can work on any body shape, size, and age. If you’re 18, 25, 36, 48, 60, it can work for you.
No matter the season, keeping your outfit monochromatic, or as monotone as possible is one of the most simplest ways of creating a put together look, and using your accessories as a pop of color can be your accent.
In this case, I chose to have my bag be my accent. It’s not a bold or bright color, it’s blush. Are you surprised? HA! Keeping my look in a minimalist and monochrome tone, my Zara top is outlined in black, paired with my black jeans, and black booties. My blush bag stands out more than an ordinary black bag would.
I could do a solid black outfit and pair it with a red bag or red shoes for the pop of color as a point of interest.
You can pull off this look with all white as well…
In this case I wore plum suede booties and my blush cross body. There’s that blush again!
Sometimes we try to “match” our accessories with our clothes, and instead of matching them up, try the opposite. Make those accessories pop and use a contrasting color. You’ll be surprised how changing that one simple thing will make your entire look different.
