Be different. That’s right. You don’t have to get what everyone else is wearing RIGHT now. Do you. Which means this…
In honor of #NationalHandbagDay, I’m divulging a little secret today. Handbags I think are my number one love when it comes to items I obsess over. Some women are shoe lovers. I love shoes, I love jewelry, I love lipstick, but I love bags more than anything else. I actually consider myself more of a collector because I like different and unique more than anything. Of course my bag must be functional too! But I wanted to share with you how you can shop designer bags for less but also how to SHIFT your way of thinking when it comes to luxury bags.
First, why luxury bags? Well, my personal style tip is this. It’s the “jewelry” to your outfit. It’s that extra umph that you have to take with you every day, day in and day out that hauls all of your necessities. So if you’re using it daily, might as well do it well and do it right! I can wear a fabulous outfit that I spent less than $50 on the entire thing, and still look sharp with my luxury bag. It pulls everything together.
The second part of this secret I’m sharing today is this. I want you to shift your thinking when it comes to how you shop for luxury pieces. This is called SMART shopping. I’ll help make you money this way! HA! ok not really! but seriously, this is how you need to shift your thinking. When you go buy a luxury car, most people do not buy a brand new full sticker price luxury vehicle. Most buy it a few years old, still under warranty, and in great condition. Why can’t we look at bags that way? Follow me here… I’m not saying you’re going to get a Gucci bag for nothing, however, why pay $1500 when it may cost you $700 after another gal wore it for a year or two, put it away and then decided she could use the cash? Same principle. Find bags that have the look you want, have the functionality you NEED, and have a luxe item at a discounted price. AND the best part is, you won’t show up to your kid’s football or soccer game and EVERY mom have the IDENTICAL same bag. You know exactly what I’m talking about, right? (wink!)
And let me also set the record straight that I have LOTS of bags that I love that have no name brand on it. I loved the design, look, colors of them and that’s why I own them. I wear them accordingly with the right outfit, just like we do shoes. A bag doesn’t have to be a designer bag for me to love it!
Do I buy all my bags like this? No. Some bags that I feel I won’t find gently used for years I will simply splurge and say TREAT YO SELF momma, and that’s what I do. Like this one for example…
and this one
And a few I’ve gotten on sale, not used… like this one…
But many have taken a spin around the block with another gal. Lucky for me! I’ll take her hand-me-downs in a heartbeat if they’re in great condition, authentic, dustbags, authentication cards, too!
Ok so on with these bags… I’ve done some shopping for YOU as if it were for ME. Right now, I splurged enough lately that I don’t need to be buying any more bags for myself (at least for a little while, UNLESS of course I find an irresistible deal! ha!).
I will preface all this by saying there’s only ONE of each. Meaning when it’s gone, it’s GONE. I had others picked out for you, and by the time I went to publish this post, they were sold. VERY bummed! So if you want any, snatch them up FAST! Literally, that brown YSL was in someone’s cart as I was creating this post and they abandoned it!
To shop any of these bags, just click on them!
If you see a bag you may be remotely interested in, I’d click on it because it will show the model holding it so you can see it scaled to size against a human body. Kinda important, right? (wink!)
Oh… and want $25 off your first purchase? My picture will take you there. Just click on it!
One more thing… these bags come from consignors. Meaning you don’t only have to buy things, but you can consign your own pieces as well. Don’t hoard like me! HA! I’m actually working on that thanks to Kassie! – tune in tomorrow night to Cocktails and Conversations as we talk about this whole topic.

love these — especially the smaller ones. I know what you mean about a heavy bag.
When I retired a few years ago it was for mixed reasons. Ostensibly, it was for health reasons — which was true. But the stress level with our change of management was so high, so extremely high, that this was the real and underlying reason. No need to ever share dirty laundry or anything on your blog you don’t want. I just hope that things level off and turn around in whichever parts of your life need a re-do. And of course, you need prayers? You’ve got ’em.
