Everywhere I look at the store I’m seeing strawberries in abundance, and big beautiful ones at that. So I decided to take advantage of these sweet, fresh, yummy, healthy (if we can make ourselves feel better that our cocktails are healthy, why not??? HA!) fruits to include in our drinks? And I love nothing more than lemon and berries. All kinds. Lemon and blueberries, lemon and raspberries, and this week, I’ve created something with lemon and strawberries.
This is something I made up, so forgive me if the proportions aren’t quite perfect. There’s beauty in imperfection, right? Tweak it to your liking. But however you tweak it, what IS perfect is the combination of the Limoncello, berries and syrup. A perfect spring drink, especially as you feel the temperatures creep up.
Limon Fraise
- 3 small shots Limoncello
- 2 shots simple syrup
- 4 large strawberries, muddled
- splash of soda or sparkling water
- lemon wedge and half strawberry
- sugar
Line the rim of your glass with the lemon wedge then the strawberry (BOTH!) Dip it in a plate of sugar to create the rim. In a shaker with ice, add the Limoncello, syrup, and strawberries. Shake it well. Pour and top with splash of soda or sparkling water.
You can tell I LOVE the sugar-rimmed edge of the glass right? As in, let’s pack on as much sugar as we can because it’s SO good! (probably my favorite part of the drink!)
This weekend is Greek Orthodox Easter, so I might be serving these yummy cocktails as we gather mid afternoon, crack our red eggs, and eat lots of lamb. Because that’s what we Greeks do, right? {wink!}
What’s on your agenda for the weekend?
Cheers!
