I had the most delightful pleasure of having a cooking class for a few of my girlfriends and myself last week hosted by Joanna Gold, owner of Gold Plated Personal Chef Services. (Ok, can I first say how LUCKY of a gal to have that last name??? GOLD? I have told Joanna that before… and it is SO fitting for our experience… )
I’ve never hired a personal chef before, but let me tell you, the service that she and her staff provide are nothing less than golden as her name is so fitting. They do no catering, but only “plated” food, prepared for you in your home with your things. Also, no “pan” or “casserole” foods… If she can’t plate it, she won’t make it. They can shop for you or you can do the shopping and they come into your home and prep your meals for you. Special dietary needs? No problem. They can do it all. Her thoughts are every kitchen and family has different needs; she is there to meet them. Think of her as “E-Harmony for the kitchen!”
Being that fall is just around the corner, she did a comfort food class for us minus the heaviness and calories. … and yes, cooking classes are yet another service she provides. After all, who doesn’t love some good comfort food, right?
With notes and recipes ready for us to observe, listen, learn, ask, take notes, and of course, enjoy the final product.
Joanna made for us a “Not So Cheesy Sauce” with some pasta and a “Naked” Eggplant atop of tomatoes and peppers.
Not only was the food absolutely flavorful, filling AND healthy, she gave amazing tips and pointers along the way that we never knew… things like how amazing and reasonable priced this handy Cuisinart hand blender is.. how reserving a bit of the starch water from boiled noodled makes a great thickening agent…
Doesn’t that look DIVINE? Trust me… it was!
And for dessert, she served up some light berry trifle dishes…. a little bit of heaven!
If you’re tired of take out and have no time to prep food for you and your family, then seriously, Joanna’s your gal. Or, if you’re wanting a fun evening with some couples and want to do a cooking class, kinda like I did with my girls, it’s a fun date. All I know is I can’t wait for her to come back for more!
