I’m so excited to share some of my beauty must haves with you. What’s even more exciting about today’s post is I’m sharing products that you can find at the drugstore, my drugstore beauty favorites. One of my vices, I will admit, is spending lots of time in the beauty aisles at the store, all when I ran in to get ingredients for dinner and maybe some school supplies for the kids! Does anyone else relate? I’m just a beauty junkie, I can’t help it!
I’m sharing a few close ups of my face…. as in REALLY close ups….
No photoshop fyi…. I am as I am.
Sidenote here: I made it a mission of mine to ALWAYS take care of my skin. Our faces are the first thing people see when they come in contact with us, and I wanted to always look as young as I could and do as much as I could to get a head start on the aging game as early as possible. What does that mean? It means I always used good skin care at an early age. I can go through my beauty routine on a future post. But I did want to share that tidbit of background info on my priorities and how I take care of myself.
I do have some serious splurges, I’m not going to deny! I’ll cover my beauty splurges in another post. But, today we’re talking the good stuff that’s good to our wallets.
Side note: Lipsticks are not included in this post. Why? Because of all the makeup to be addicted to, it’s lipstick. I can’t think of a brand I don’t own. Which means I probably have every brand of lipstick out there from the drugstore and the department store. Well, maybe not every brand, but close to it!
L’Oreal Illuminator. I love to use on my cheekbones, just barely beneath the under eye area and really use like a highlighter. Love these!
Revlon Colorstay Makeup. Ok you guys, my NUMBER ONE favorite makeup product. I found out about this one literally when I asked a girl what she was wearing because her makeup looked flawless. She admitted she couldn’t believe how fabulous it worked over so many other high end products, and lo and behold, it does. I can apply it at 7 am and it still looks amazing at 5 pm, I kid you not!
Revlon Highlighting Palette. I like to brush across my cheekbone sometimes with a fan brush OR use individual colors as part of my eye shadow.
St. Ives Apricot Face Scrub. Biggest bang for your buck. One of my secrets of great skin is exfoliating regularly. And I do mean regularly. I use this just about EVERY morning in the shower on my fresh face as a cleanser. I wash at night with my regular cleanser and this is my morning go to glow wash. I call it glow wash because my skin glows when I’m done. No kidding.
Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes. Great for travel. I love them when I’m up super late and I’m just too lazy to wash my face. This does the trick. It also works great on my eyes without any irritation. Sometimes if I still have residue of makeup even after I wash my face with cleanser, I use these wipes as a “toner wipe” per se because it gets all remaining grime off.
Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil. This might or might not surprise you. I use this not on my eyebrows. Believe it or not, I don’t do anything to them other than groom them. No coloring or penciling of any sort. What I use this pencil for is lip liner. Yes…. that explains my overlined clown lips! HA! But seriously, why I love this so much? Most liners for me are too pink, too red, too orange, too plum… I wanted something that had more of a neutral tone. This has a little bit of a putty, taupe tone to it, which I like with my nude lipsticks. The other colors of liners look like a complete different color outlining my lips.
Cetaphil. My go to wash for travel for short getaway trips. I like that this comes in small travel size at the drugstore, so I grab one and throw it in my bag vs my regular wash. I don’t have to worry about the push pump opening in the makeup bag by taking this vs my regular bottle of what I use.
CoverGirl Flamed Out Shadow Pencil. One of my drugstore faves that I got after using a department store brand. Love both, this one shimmers a bit more, just depending on what kind of look you’re going for. How I use it? My new favorite tip on brightening the eyes: line around the inside crease of your eye. The result? A pop of brightness! I also sometimes line the top of my lid with it as well.
L’Oreal Voluminous Superstar Mascara. Fabulous drugstore mascara. Period. If you’re out of the expensive stuff and can’t make it to the mall, get this. I also love that it has that white primer on one end and the mascara on the other. They’re long, full, thick and defined.
So there you have it. Stay tuned for my department store beauty favorites coming soon!
Do you have any drugstore beauty favorites? What are they?
