My baby girl turns 12 today. My firstborn. REALLY? Has it been 12 years??? I really can’t believe how time flies. HOW did that happen? I loved EVERYTHING about having her… (and my son, too). Loved the pregnancy! LOVED being pregnant. Went into labor, LOVED labor. Insane or what??? I used meditation and breathing techniques to work through the AWESOME pain as I called it — awseome in the sense of GREATNESS as a precursor that something GREAT was about to happen! Loved the middle of the night feedings. Our silent time in bed while she fed. I swear, I’ve been SOOOOO blessed.
Seems like just yesterday that I was taking her around in the “karoche” (stroller in English… one of those words that just rolls out of my mouth in Greek), going to the mall. My mini- me.
She made it to Atlantis at the ripe age of 2. Posing for us…
And after baby brother came along, she was my BIGGEST helper! I remember being prego with K-man and telling her, “Margo, I could NEVER have this baby without you. How could I??? I’m going to need ALL your help! You are SO important in helping me do you know that? I could never do this without all of your precious help!”
I wanna eat them up!
Don’t we live vicarously through them? Well, guess what sport I always loved to watch growing up as a little girl?
Figure skating! Because it was PRETTY, BEAUTIFUL, graceful, feminine. And guess what sport she started doing at 5? (of course she’s older than 5 in this picture above during a holiday performance downtown.)
Did we know she was a mini-me? Just making sure!
So here we are….. grown up…. 12 years and a lot more in the making.
I never knew love to be SO huge. I remember when she was “fresh out” and we laid her in bed between us, I remember saying to my hubby, “Babe, I love you and everything, but I REEEEEEAAAALLLLY LOVE her!” HA! You know what he said? “I know. Me too!” HA! Parenthood…. who knew?
Happy Birthday to my sweet mini-me! My “come my lady, come, come my lady, you’re my butterfly, sugar baby!” 🙂
p.s. There MIGHT be a follow up post. Just sayin. I can’t say more than that! My lips are SEALED!!
