M & M. Miley and Macklemore.
(dear daughter comes home the other day from school saying “I have to compare and contrast”… well, in a nutshell, this could be considered just that….)
Miley Cyrus. Need I say any more? I try to post things on my blog to be inspiring, positive, informative, beneficial for our lives in some way shape or form. Well, this is something I felt like I had to have a mini vent on.
I don’t know how far our values and morals have changed since I was a teen growing up, but the RISKAY thing back in those days the controversial things were Three’s Company and perhaps Boy George’s getup. I am inspired when I hear of stories of youth and success. After all, it is our youth that IS our future. So when I see that one day long (well not SO long ago), I took this lil one to see…..
to see this….
…. it makes me nauseous. Because back then, Miss Miley did inspire us. She was setting a good example and was a positive role model.
Remember those days? When Miley was a good girl? And I really DON’T want to give ANY more exposure to the raunchiness I witnessed last night by posting a picture of her TODAY. From giant teddy bears to her 4 inch tongue to grinding and twerking to using a foam finger as a new toy. Wrong. Disgusting. Mortifying. Embarrassing. Is this our future? Is this the EXAMPLE our future is seeing? I certainly didn’t find that entertaining on the VMA awards. Did you? I think I figured out that she had lost her fame as Hanna and now had to recreate SOMETHING to create buzz and news on herself…. even if it’s negative. That is all I read about all day long all over the internet. Well, it worked. So sad.
And really the thing that moved me more than anything was the interview I saw last week one night on Nightline.
(fyi, I want those furs…. both of them!)
An interview with Macklemore.
Really, it moved me in a huge way. And it was perfect timing to share here. If you haven’t seen it and don’t know his story, take a look at Macklemore’s interview below…. 14 year success story in the making, with no agent, no record label, just hard work on his own. He talks about real life, his challenges, things that people don’t normally talk about, but it’s REAL. Yeah…. so he drops an “F” bomb here or there, and he has had his issues with addiction as many have, but I have way more respect for his lyrics, his story, his work ethic, and the example he is setting for our youth.
