I don’t know if you have any holiday tradition with family and friends, but we started a tradition several years ago that is super fun.
Gingerbread house making! Mini-me’s Godmother and I started several years ago getting our kids together for the ANNUAL GINGERBREAD HOUSE MAKING EVENT. Our kids have SO much fun coming up with different designs every year for the roofs, the doors, windows, even walkways!
We love to have a buffet of candy and toppings for them to pick and choose. She and I have the most fun coming up with the most unique things for them to use and the kids have the most fun EATING it all WHILE making them.
We make the royal frosting, which is super simple…1. powdered sugar 2. water . Mix together, and just add water to your powdered sugar till it becomes a paste-like consistency. Keeping the fingers out of THAT is hard too!
For me, it’s dipping those pretzel sticks INTO the royal icing!
And it’s fun to watch them grow.
The best part of it all is seeing the kids excitement and desire to do this year after year, even as they get older. It was pretty great to hear our oldest one say last year, “Mom, we gotta continue this tradition even after we’re married!”
Gotta love that!
So what am I going to be doing on this Fabulous Friday? Why, we are making our Gingerbread Houses!
Happy weekend lovies!
