When I turned 30, I was very On Purpose with a huge personal goal for myself. I know that I wanted to take good care of myself so that when I turned 40 I didn’t look 40. And continue that on so that when I turn 50, I didn’t look 50. I always was into my skin care, but from then on, I really made it a focus. I think it has somewhat paid off! So far I think my skin looks pretty good for my age because people comment on it all the time. So because of that, I decided to share this post with you.
The two most requested things I’ve been asked for are 1. my makeup and a tutorial, and 2. my skin care regimen. I fulfilled number one HERE. So now it’s time for number two. While these do change periodically because I AM a beauty junkie, these are the current obsessions in this whole arena.
So first things first! I’ve broken down what I use by type of product and by time of day. You’ll see I use a mixture of high and low end things and everything in between. The products I’m sharing today are the my CURRENT products. And they’re serving me quite well, I must say!
Before we jump into the what, a refresher of what my skin is looking like these days. (ha!) These are all untouched, unedited selfies when I felt beautiful.
First, a no-makeup selfie, fresh out of the tub.
And the rest are me! Makeup on, but no touchups.
So there’s my skin, and I’m over 40. I’m still working towards that goal of looking as young as I can and aging gracefully.
On to the products!
My suggestions on the below-mentioned products are to shop this post! Why?
- For one, you’ll get free shipping on some of these because there are multiple things from one store. One less thing for you to have to run out to do!
- Second, it’s convenient.
- Third, some of these are hard to find (the one scrub is ALWAYS sold out at Target. So why mess with the hassle of going back and forth?)
- Finally, a few are not sold in stores. You have no other choice but to shop them online. You’ll see when we get to them.
Cleanse. First things first. Ladies, wash your face. Like seriously. Wash your damn face. It keeps your pores clean, it prevents blackheads, and all in all, it’s just good hygiene. I don’t know how else to put it. So what to wash with? I have a separate regimen for the morning and separate for the evening.
For the evening, I wash with the Egg Foam Cleanser to remove my make up. I LOVE the scent and I feel like it does a fairly good job. For the lazy nights, I use the charcoal wipes. Why the charcoal? Who knows, but I grabbed them because apparently “charcoal” is a buzzword, so I had to be buzzing! ha! For the morning I wash my face with this face scrub that is TO DIE FOR! No wonder why it won an award for Allure Best in Beauty! I feel like my face has gotten a resurface job when it’s all said and done. It’s by far hands down one of my FAVORITE products.
My eye makeup remover is one I’ve used for over 20 years. Hand’s down on Irene’s must-have list!
Why is my cleansing routine this way? My skin has no makeup on it in the morning, so all I need is a fresh clean slate to begin my day, and that’s why I choose my scrub and use it in the shower every morning. Simple.
Day Moisturize and Treatment. I begin the morning with my eye cream. I’ve used many, and this is the current one. I’m loving it so far and I use it morning and night. Then I move on to the rest of my face.
There’s nothing worse than having a breakout or a big ole zit as an adult. It sucked as a teen, and as women, I think it’s something we can suffer from time to time with our diets and hormones. So I’ve been using this SkinCeuticals serum before my moisturizer. It prevents acne and has anti-aging properties to it. The nice thing is that Margo uses it as well and it’s been keeping her acne away. So if you’re prone to a zit here or there, this is something you should add to your routine. I finish it off with my simple moisturizer. I received the L’Oreal to test as a blogger and LOVE it. It’s rich, creamy and smells amazing. Prior to that for over 10 years I’ve used the Arbonne Rejuvinating cream. I also use it after being in the sun. There is NOTHING out there like it. Again, it’s creamy, smells amazing and feels SO good on. And it’s not too heavy. This is another one of my must-haves all time favorites.
Night Treatment and Moisturize. For the night, you saw earlier I shared what I cleanse with. After washing my face and removing my eye makeup, I use my eye cream. The same one as the morning, and it’s been working great for me. I’ve used several and this happens to be the current pick. After taking care of my eyes, my next product is GAME CHANGER. Why do I say game changer? Because I see a significant difference between what my face looks like with and without it. Hands down, the Arbonne Genius Pads are a game changer. They’re soaked in a solution of retinoic acid. Enough said right there. The other items I’m using are items I put together myself from the drugstore based upon reviews I’ve seen. Sometimes I use all of them at once (because I’m obsessed!!) and sometimes I use just one. But all in all they seem to be really great products and won’t break the bank.
And there you have it! My skin care regimen. These are the products I use that you see give my face the results I get.
