Today’s cocktail is in honor of the man….
Like… I just can’t even.
Being a child of the 80’s, before cell phones and computers, before any technology, we had boom boxes and music and cassette tapes and real life friend connections. And paper notes. And school dances. And this icon, Prince, who left this earth too soon. He was more than just a singer. He was multi-faceted, multi-talented, in a larger than life way. While life will go on, all of his music and the memories we made that came with it will always be with us.
While I always prepare all my cocktails myself and had something else prepared for you this week, I thought serving you some Purple Rain would be most appropriate today.
Purple Rain
- 45 ml vodka
- 30 ml blue curaçao
- 30 ml cranberry juice
Add all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with some ice. Shake until chilled. Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish.

Right now, Purple Rain keeps ringing through my head. But so many songs of his were just so fun to listen to, dance to, hang out with my friends to. Little Red Corvette, Purple Rain, 1999, When Doves Cry, I Would Die 4 U, U Got The Look…. so awesome… there were some kinda kinky dirty ones… Remember Cream? Darling Nikki? oh my! (wink)
Thank you Prince for all of your artistry, your talent, your music. It will forever live on. May you rest in peace.
Just another reminder that we never know when our time will come. And just like that, he’s gone. Cherish each day and cherish those you love even more.
What are some of your favorite Prince songs? Memories?
