If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen my hashtags I use #spreadthelove , #sparklemaker and #ilovewhatido. Because I do believe in The Golden Rule and spreading the love, kindness, and making sparkles for others to shine. So, when these two DARLING chics from Kansas City with 5 O’Clock Fashionistas reached out to me to collaborate on a few cocktails for their series Coaster to Coaster, I couldn’t resist! #pursesdownbottomsup SO cute! So today I bring you the Kansas City cocktail.
Hey all, I’m Jacque from 5 O’Clock Fashionistas. I am so excited to be here today to take your tastebuds on a journey! My friends know me as somewhat of a cocktail connoisseur so I hope you are too! Let’s go!
My inspiration for the Blue Honey Bee came from my city, Kansas City. I used honey as a nod to the state insect (the honey bee), I used blue curacao to give the cocktail a blue hint as our hometown baseball team is the Royals, and I topped the cocktail with champagne because it’s one of the happiest – or one could say bubbliest – cities I have lived in.
[bctt tweet=”There are two things I love in my cocktails- Tequila and Champagne!”] Tequila may seem like a weird choice here but for me, it’s a natural fit. If you aren’t a fan of tequila you could switch it out for vodka. It will hold a similar effect but may play better with your tastebuds. Enjoying a cocktail is all about preference, so go with your heart!
Blue Honey Bee
Ingredients
- ½ shot pineapple
- 1 shot tequila
- dash of honey
- dash of blue curacao
- Top off with champagne
- sugar and honey for the rim
- Ice
Method
Add the pineapple, tequila, honey, and blue curacao to a shaker with ice and shake. Rim your martini or margarita glass with honey and dip into sugar. Strain the cocktail into your glass and top with champagne (to your liking. I personally add more than most). Enjoy!
Thanks for having me, Irene!
