Most of you know I wear many hats. I have this blog, I help run my daughter’s company, Honestly Margo, I’m a mom of 2 (not just her!), wife, and lots of other things that are brewing that go along with all of the above (which you just have to keep in touch with me to know what all of those might be!). So when Udånder invited me to come spend an afternoon with them to get pampered and escape, it was something that called to me in a big way. It couldn’t have come at a better time than now.
So what exactly is Udånder? It’s a Scandinavian sauna and steam spa in downtown Oklahoma City. When I had heard of this, I thought to myself FINALLY something like this is in our city. The only place I could really truly use a facility to sauna and steam with aromatherapy would be out of town at some fancy spas. But {angels singing} now I can do it HERE in my own city!
So what exactly do they offer? Truly, as their slogan says, “time to exhale”, I kid you not, after I was through spending time there, it was like every ounce of stress, anxiety, thought, care gently exited every pore of my body and floated out into the universe. Like I literally could exhale. I mean, if you’re busy and have lots going on, hectic lifestyle, on the run, (that would probably define 90% of you, am I correct?), then THIS is your answer.
Ok so back to what they offer… the dry sauna, the aromatherapy steam, private soaking tubs, foot soaks, herbal teas, showers with shampoo, conditioner, soap, razors for you to get ready. You can prepare for yourself a custom facial while steaming or in the sauna, you can just relax in between services lounging reading magazines in the quiet serene lounge.
My time began with the dry sauna, then the steam, two of my absolute favorite things.
After that, I enjoyed a little time with some rosemary and chamomile tea while my feet soaked in a copper bowl with epsom salt, blackberry leaf and white fir essential oil. My treatments that followed were both an hour each, facial, then a full body massage. Again with aromatherapy oils that really awakened my senses and at the same time allowed me to quiet my inner voices (because again, we all know my brain doesn’t stop and I go a million miles an hour!). I was able to escape and exhale.
