Focus, determination, sacrifice. For me, this is what it takes to lose weight. I’m not one of those gals that can eat like a horse, not gain an ounce… and on the flip side drop 5 or 10 pounds just with the snap of a finger. For me, it’s work. Hard work. And I know it’s a challenge I’ll have to face the rest of my life. It’s something that I struggle with daily. Why? Because I know the slightest mess up, meaning a long weekend out of town, eating lots of great food, consuming a few libations, it will show up on the scale and in my waistline. I’m not kidding. A 3 day weekend is all it takes. When I tell you I gained 10 pounds on my 14 day honeymoon, that is NO joke. It happens that fast for me.
So it is what it is. I know I have to keep myself in check always. And that also means damage control when I’ve been out of check. Which has been the situation as of lately! #truth I’m being vulnerable in sharing something so personal with you, but at the same time, putting it out there helps keep me accountable AND I know I’m hopefully making a difference to someone who has to deal with this same issue themselves.
So what’s a girl to do when desperate times call for desperate measures?
Tuna.
HA! Yup. That OH so yummy canned (or in the package) convenient old-fashioned “diet” food.
Now… I can talk for hours and DAYS on diet and weight loss, because I’ve been there, done that. Remember I was a Weight Watchers leader for 6 years. I just have to practice what I preach. {wink!}
So today I’m sharing something I’ve been eating lately to help shed those few pounds of winter bulge that might have crept up from all the out of town soccer trips, comfort food dinners, leftovers from the sleepovers… you get my drift?
Damage control food. Tuna. What I like about it is that it’s high protein, easy to fix, and gets the job done. It’s about nutrition, and getting what you need to keep your body functioning, with lean food. This is it.
Inspired from Pinterest, I created these Tuna Cups to make basic tuna a little “fancier” let’s just say. I have kept the filling simple, for weight loss purposes, but feel free to add mayo, miracle whip, whatever seasonings you wish to add. Mine is bland, but again, it does the trick!
Tuna Cups
- Canned tuna, drained
- Lemon
- Cucumber
Put tuna in a bowl and squeeze lemon on it. Slice cucumbers into approximately one inch slices. Hollow out the center with a spoon and remove the seeds. Spoon the tuna into the hollowed out “cups”.
This is easy to whip up, great for lunch or a snack, or anything in between. Try this consistently for a few days in a row and lets see if your waistline gets smaller. I bet it will!
If you want to try it, PIN it so you make sure it’s saved. Even for a later date.
What do you eat to help you shed a few extra pounds? Comment below! I’d love to hear!

Hi Angela! Oh it’s as real as it gets! It’s unfortunate that we have this body type for sure, and that we always have to keep it in check. I’m glad I’M not alone! And I thought it was just me! 🙂
