The beginning of the new year I think is synonymous with diet, weight loss, new you and resolutions. I remember when I was a Weight Watchers leader, the room would be packed, standing room only, sometimes I’d be coaching up to 100 people. Insane!
So what are some SECRETS to success? People who have lost weight and kept if off over 2 years… what are some of their secrets of success?
Recently on ABC NEWS w Diane Sawyer, they did a feature on the secrets of super dieters; those who had success and kept off their weight over 2 years. How do they keep it off?
1. Don’t cheat.
Is that hard to do? I’d say YES. But, think about it. Every bite, lick and taste counts. Those aren’t zero calories. You could be adding in an additional 500 – 1000 + calories without even realizing it.
2. Eat breakfast.
It’s the most important meal of the day. It get’s your metabolism going. Nothing more important than that. Your metabolism is responsible for burning your calories. Don’t you want that going? Yesssssssssss!
3. Weigh yourself daily.
It helps you keep tabs on yourself. I used to do it weekly. What I’ve noticed is that you can “creep up” if you don’t weigh yourself often. I’ve now begun to do it daily. *sigh*
4. Excercise every day. I say move every day. As much as you can. If you can’t “exercise”, find ways to MOVE more.
5. Journal everything you eat.
Remember #1 about cheating? This will definitely help you catch yourself if you do every so often. Trust me, if you know you have to write down everything you put in your mouth, you’ll think twice before you eat it.
Look, these aren’t rocket science. These things are all common sense. We just have to DO them. Am I right?
There you have it. Some tips from SUPER dieters… those who’ve lost weight and KEPT it off for a long time. Who’s in?
