On Purpose

I’d like to call today Meaningful Monday. It’s so easy to get sidetracked… and I really haven’t gotten sidetracked so much as just let myself bloom more into what I’m supposed to be doing. Evolving so to speak. Which is following my passions. But it’s also inline with what this is all about.

Being On Purpose. When I started my blog over 2 years ago, I was so excited to share inspirational thoughts and ideas with the world, to believe in themselves, to push themselves to be the BEST version of themselves they could be… to inspire others that they could do ANYTHING they put their mind to. But, on the flip side, I wanted to share other fun stuff, things that I’m passionate about, that to me reflected purposeful things in the ways we live… our homes, our dress, our food, travel, in all aspects of our lives.

But this weekend I was tagged on an Instagram post.

And it made me reflect on what this blog all began with and its core meaning…

Lemme give you the AWESOME skinny on this… My friend Michelle was visiting with another friend Joan. Both great business women. Joan was giving Michelle some advice… You see, Michelle’s 4 teen kids are entrepreneurs, much like my daughter, Honestly Margo, and they own It’s POPular Popcorn. They recently won a competition at the Entrepreneur of Faith Conference, called The Lion’s Den. Much like Shark Tank, business owners presented their story and businesses to the Lions, and one winner was chosen to receive money along with some great coaching from these successful Lions (equivalent to the Sharks). So, anyways, VERY cool thing! … back to this story here… so it was just a reminder as I was tagged in this photo, how we need to be ON PURPOSE. Here, she said with her time. Side note — It so happened to be that I was asked to teach one of the breakout sessions for this conference, “Blogging For Your Business” and had to back out to go out of town for my daughter’s school athletic event. To me, I had no choice. My main purpose and focus is my kids. While my thoughts were with all these aspiring new business creators that day, I knew where I belonged and where my main purpose was that day, and that was with my daughter. I had to make that ON PURPOSE decision for myself.

So even though at times this might appear to be a fashion blog (and those who have known me almost my whole life know my passion for fashion), there’s SO much more to this tiny microcosm of a spot in cyberspace. I’m here to share with you things I personally find lovely in all ways, shapes and forms. Because if we feel beautiful, and our surroundings are beautiful, then we wanna be more and do more and achieve more. As a parent, as a partner, as a business person, as an individual person. So as this place has evolved, I’m sharing all of my passions, in this way.

I can’t tell you the gratitude it gives me when I surprise strangers as the Western Avenue Scout. People have said to me before, “I never win anything!” or “OMG I’m going to pay it forward and do something nice for someone else now!” I love that I’ve made a difference and have brought a bit of joy to that person’s day for just a few moments.

So, be On Purpose.

At work. With your time. Who you spend your time with. With your money and spending it wisely. I love nice things but if I can spend less, get it on sale, heck YES! With your family. How much time you spend with them… remember we can’t get our time back! {sad face!} With how you live daily. So if you want to lounge in your sweats, more power to you! I have LOTS of days like that believe it or not. We NEED those days to just VEG OUT and CHILL so we can recharge and refuel. It has it’s purpose too, those sweats days {wink!}. If you don’t wanna wash your hair, I’ll show you how to LOOK FABULOUS with that 2nd day hair! {wink!} See what I’m talkin about? With our attitudes. Both with our self talk as well as how we treat others.

It’s really about being OP in all that we do. Every day. In every way. It’s really that simple.

Nothing here is changing… I have some fashion posts, and food posts, and interior design posts, and beauty posts lined up for you. I’m still OP on the things I’m loving…. sharing what I think is great to inspire you in some small way. {wink!}
