It’s that time again!
For those of you who don’t know, I’m the mom of this teen entrepreneur. Honestly Margo. She formulated her all natural lip balms at 11, and at 12 her company was born. I help run her company and work closely side by side with her to help her grow her business. Part of that involves going to Market several times a year where she shares her products with buyers from all over.
What does that mean for me? I wear many hats, obviously. I run this blog, I run The Lounge, I’m working on a few other projects, and of course, there’s my family. So the question is this. How to find balance while having so many things going on.
First I’ll be quite frank. It’s not always easy. Sometimes my voice gets a little high pitched and I need to shut the door and get away from the world. But here are a few tips on how to keep it all together… for the most part!
First, do what comes first FIRST. If you have things due in a few days, and things that are due on your plate in two weeks, get what needs to be done now FIRST. It’s really pretty simple. Then find a system to make sure you stay organized to get what you need to get done, done. Whatever works for you, do that. I’m a paper girl. I’m not a digital girl. So I have to write everything down. Each of us have our own preferences on organization and management of time.
Second, delegate things to others. Whatever you can try to get help for, do. It was one of the hardest things to do, but once I did, I felt the pressure off my shoulders. What that does is it allows you to free up some time for either more productivity or for some much needed down time. If you can hire someone to do the little things for you, even help you clean your house, do your laundry, administrative things, you’ll feel so released from the stress of “have to do’s”. Hire a VA. Find an intern at a local college. There are lots of options to help you ease the load off yourself.
Third, use your calendar. It seems so elementary, but do. And on that same note, write things down. Studies show that you retain more information that is hand written vs typed. So utilize your calendar and write it all down. The more things you have, the more you’ll find you can’t live without it.
Finally, take some time for you. One of the perks of #2. Maybe that means going to the spa, or getting a manicure, or taking a few hours to do whatever it is that gives you joy or gives you peace. How about a hot bubble bath with some lavender to help relax you? Whatever it is that you enjoy and keeps you calm, do it.
So based on all this info I shared, I’ll share this. If you see me missing a few days here there, now you understand why. I wear many hats, and something’s gotta give. But it’s not a bad thing at all. It’s a good thing. I just means something else has taken priority for now. I might still do a post or two here or there and for SURE you’ll find me popping in at The OP Lounge and we can hang out together there. You can also follow me on Instagram.
So there you go. That’s how I keep it all together. For the most part. Most of the time! HA!
Until later loves… toodles!
