There is power in color. It makes us come alive. So when we surround ourselves with colors that we love, it gives us that positive, energizing vibe when we’re in that space. I recently came across this New York apartment and was totally inspired by Christina Maven’s place.
I love that she’s not afraid of color and patterns and mixing things up. One of my favorite design tips is that I almost NEVER buy things matching. Like EVER. She must have that same philosophy.
Here’s a sneak peek at my dining room chairs that are getting a makeover.

So when photographed the fabric, you can see it looked magenta in that lighting. As much editing as I tried to do to get it right, I didn’t want to make it look even MORE skewewed.
HERE are my chairs in progress… GASP!
So those were Drexel Heritage chairs I bought to go with my Henredon table like 18 years ago. You read that right. Both brown wood, but I despised that matchy set look. These had fabric seats and backs and I had fully intended to redo them throughout all these years. The problem is I never LOVED the space I had created for them. I switched up rooms, moving my dining to the living then back to its original state finally. So fast foward and here we are giving these chairs a makeover.
All of my home is pretty much designed this way. My living room is a collection of pieces I’ve acquired through the years, and I’m always messing with them, adding accessories, changing things up, moving things around, but the beautiful thing is this. None of it matches and it all goes beautifully together. And it’s all so colorful. You can see my dining table is all mixed and matched both HERE and HERE.
More to come with pictures of my home. For now, we see these peeks at what’s to come.
I’ve also pulled a few color-me-happy accent chairs you may be able to pull into one of your rooms for a pop of zing. Aren’t these fabulous? I’m actually thinking about the white fur to go in front of my office desk! More to come on that, too!
