I’m a girl whose roots go back to Greece, so the color blue set against white has always been one of my favorite combinations. Whether it’s country flag, the blue sea contrasting the white sandy beaches, or the white homes that stand out against the beautiful blue skies, the color combination feeds my soul and immediately makes me feel like I’m home. Even if I’m in a home away from home. Therefore, decorating with blue and white seems like the perfect way to bring a little bit of Greece to Oklahoma.

Studies show that if you want to feel hopeful, calm and centered, surround yourself with the color blue. Believe it or not, just sitting in a room with blue has been known to lower blood pressure. And really, who doesn’t need a little bit of help with that? Aren’t you already feeling more relaxed by just looking at these photos? 🙂

I’ve often seen blue and white home decor, but a lot of the time, the color combination is used in a more traditional, cozy, comfy, cottage, shabby chic or country style of living. More recently however, blue and white have made their way in to more contemporary and sleek decor.

For those of you who are a little bit afraid of going too bold with color, there’s no need to be afraid of going blue. Just start off with baby steps. Place blue knick-knacks on your white shelves, or be just a little bit daring and paint the inside of your shelves blue. Since blue goes with just about anything, it’s hard to go wrong.

So, the next time you’re out, about and contemplating a change, go Greek and throw in some blue and white. I’m certain you won’t be disappointed!
