Black Bar

This week I am 100% completely immersed in a home makeover project.  I thought it wouldn’t be a big deal, but it’s bigger than I anticipated for sure.  Not quite sure if it’s because I haven’t done it too often or what, but I guess I didn’t realize the fumes and mess and displacement it would be for our whole crew.

What kinda make-over?

This space….

but today I’m specifically talking THIS space….

… the bar.

I shared my dilemma HERE not too long ago, and decided I better move forward on this little project now or else I’ll be procrastinating much like I did with last fall’s master bathroom project (which still is left to be done, tile all in my garage, and my heart aches now because my beloved tile guy passed away this fall suddenly, and I can’t bear to move forward without him…  depressing and pathetic and I could kick myself for that…  that’s a whole other issue I need to address and deal with… )

Soooooooo….   I have decided to paint the bar BLACK and I couldn’t be MORE excited!  I’ve always loved splashes of black in my light spaces, but this takes the cake with a bold move on my part.  The rest of the cabinets are going to be the same white that is in the adjoining kitchen.  I love adding that deep masculine powerful color the the bar to make it feel almost as if it’s its own space within the same room, setting it apart, versus all blending and matching.

Here’s what the plan looks like….

 

Chandelier that I have will be similar to this one.  The Mister said NO on changing the verde green marble… an expense we didn’t need to occur.  I said that’s fine…  I’ll take a fabulous new piece of art!  {wink!}…  Bar stools, I have.  That fogginess you see beneath the cabinet will be “smoky” mirror backsplash… at least that’s the plan.

So stay tuned!

In the meantime…  a bit of black cabinet pinsperation for us…   they’re not all bars, but we can get a feel for similar aesthetics…

 

 

What do you think of my choice of a black bar?

I can’t WAIT till it’s done!   I’ll be ready to serve up some cocktails to all of you after it’s all said and done.  What do you say?  Are you in?

….  just so you know…  this paint is REALLY getting to me…  I HOPE to be back tomorrow and the next day and the next day…  but I’m seriously disheveled in dust and fumes (and a tiny headache from it) that I might have to take a day off…  fingers and toes crossed that I’ll be back, but just sayin…
