Medical concierge. A medical concierge? What’s that? First, anything with the word “concierge” in it gets my attention. Well, when I learned of this fantastic little service and how amazing it is, you know I had to blast it to my peeps. Earlier this summer I had paid a visit to the good Dr for one of my kiddos, and it had been a while since we saw him. One of the great things about parenting and raising kids is that they eventually stop getting sick. Weird how that works. Anyways, so Sr. Stanford begins to tell me about this new service he’s offering to help his practice because of Obama care, but truly it’s a win win situation. And when I heard concierge I knew it was something I would be interested in.
I just wanna say I LOVE our pediatrician. He’s been both of our kids doctor since the day they came out. LOVE LOVE LOVE him! He’s one of those doctors that truly LOVES what he does and doesn’t do it for the title, if that makes sense. He’s like a good ole fashioned doc!
Meet Dr. Stanford Conierge Medicine.
He is the first and only physician in the state offering this kind of service, AND he’s the only pediatrician doing this in Oklahoma as well. For $100 per month, you have access to him, his text, cell phone, 24/7 access, and there are no off call / on call times. He’s at your service and will see your child wherever whenever. So basically if it’s 11 PM and your child is running a fever of 103 he’ll come to your house if you can’t leave your other child. Or if you have to do back to school physicals and have three kids and are taking them from one sport to the next and have a job, he’ll come to your house for the physical. Basically he’s there for you 247 you can meet him at the office or hell come to you. What mom wouldn’t love that…. Esp if you have multiple kids, are busy w a job or other activities or even for that peace of mind knowing he’s just a phone call away. All he asks is that if you’re not an existing patient to have an initial visit in the office for an exam to get your paperwork started and get you into his system. That’s it.
Now you see how cool this is and why I had to share. I think a service like this for internal medicine or a family physical would be awesome as well. Think of how many elderly people could use a service like this.

Dr. Stanford has been my kids pediatrician for almost 21 years. I moved to OKC with a 3 month old baby. My Dr. in La Jolla said to call the nurses in the biggest hospital and ask them who they recommend. That was Dr. Stanford unanimously! He’s truly a wonderful Dr! Thanks for posting Irene – I too have really well kiddos, but nice to know he’s doing this!

Our doctor in OKC did this several years ago. There are quite a few companies that do this sort of service and quite a few doctors in the area who already do it. For ours, it was a $1500/year fee. I couldn’t see any reason to pay extra (then we’d still have to meet our deductible, copays, etc to actually see him). We left and found a wonderful doctor who answers our phone calls and emails for free and always gets our kids in the same day if they need to be seen. Our last doctor pushed the “wellness” approach–being able to focus on preventative medicine, but I didn’t really see any way that was different from seeing a good primary care doc who’s proactive about preventative care. As far as I can tell, it’s a GREAT deal for the doctor: they get guaranteed money that they don’t have to deal with the insurance companies for and they can take fewer patients. I just can’t figure out why I would want to pay more for it.
