Yes, another post on another site about Prince.
I can’t help but be still so taken with this whole thing, his passing, and really appreciating who he was when we DID have him around. Most of you 40 somethings probably agree with me in everything I’m saying and probably all relate quite a bit because he in part defined our time. Am I right? Because I have intellection (if you don’t understand what I’m talking about, you can read about my assessment with StrengthsFinders HERE), I keep thinking and thinking an analyzing. All because of his passing. Three artistic musical legends, three individuals that I think that made the biggest impact on our lives, those of us 40 somethings, kids of the 80s. Madonna, Michael Jackson, and Prince, 2 of whom are deceased. So this brings us to this defining time.
You know how people ask, “Where were you when….”.. I remember my parents generation the big question was “when Kennedy was shot.” One more of our time we can relate to, “when Princess Diana was killed.” This will be one of those moments I think.
So why am I expanding on these thoughts? Well, it’s in his passing that we truly appreciate him for what he contributed to the world, but there’s more than that.
In looking back, I can’t recall anything every bad being said about Prince. He pushed the envelope with sexual and erotic lyrics, but that was no crime. He was expressing his creativity and artistry through his music, through his appearance, in a larger than life way. You never heard of him getting arrested, drinking, doing drugs, doing anything of the sorts that made headlines in a negative way. He was an artist, a musician, an entertainer.
And how unfortunate that his commitment to his religious beliefs took him down the path of using drugs to deal with the pain of his physical ailments. His religious beliefs prevented him from having surgery so he turned to prescription pain medications to alleviate the pain. How tragic and sad to think that him respecting his religion took him down this path that ended his life, an unintentional act. Yet he was loyal to his God and his religion. This gives me chills.
Just had to vent one more time, get my thoughts out of my head and onto this “virtual paper” so to speak. Of course we’ll all move on, but there will NEVER be another Prince.
Here’s a video from the SNL tribute to Prince, featuring a never before seen video of Prince playing Let’s Go Crazy, a total impromptu performance on his part. Further down below, see Prince playing at the Super Bowl halftime show, and listen to the commentary. Never before was there rain during a Super Bowl, yet there was… and how did the performance go? Take a look and see. Was there some higher being that had a part of this magnificence? I think so. (more chills….)
