This past December I was honored to be a part of the Polished Nail Salon holiday party where I got to experience the most DARLING cookies designed into OPI nail polish bottles.
So I had to reach out to this cool cookie mastress, Sweets On The Side. I recently was in charge of my high school reunion, and asked her to do something for us. Decorative sugar cookies seemed like a fun dessert option because they were an easy finger food for people to pick up, no mess, no plate or fork needed, and simple to grab as you’re standing and socializing. Here is what she did for me.
This picture isn’t the best, taken at night with my phone, but these were SO cute, all individually wrapped in their own cellophane plastic. Meaning, not only will they taste great the day you get them, they will last and not dry out. What a great party favor they would make!
So here’s what you need to know about these sweet treats. They look darling. Yes. Obviously after you look below you’ll see these cookies are like works of art. But what you can’t tell from all of this is how YUMMY these are! They’re the perfect amount of sweet, but not too sugary, not hard and crumbly, but not too soft and chewy. They’re literally JUST RIGHT.
I had a few leftovers from our reunion. If I look like I’ve put on a couple of pounds, it’s because I’ve had a hard time resisting these! HA! Seriously!
Here’s a look at a few other creations this sweet baker has made…
For those of you in the Oklahoma City metro area, save this post for when you have a need for treats like these. Sweets On The Side is a business you want to save for your rolodex. Birthdays, showers, weddings, parties of any sorts, she’s your go-to gal for darling and tasty cookie creations.
Thank you Lan for our Pirate cookies! We loved them!

Oh Irene. We can’t thank you enough for the blog. It is an amazing opportunity to be able to do what I do and love it! I hope people know that I take a lot of care when decorating each cookie. I keep the client and their special occasion on my mind as I sit down to a blank cookie canvas. But more importantly, I believe that a cookie should taste as good as it looks. Thank you thank you thank you a million times over. Lan McCabe of Sweets on the Side.
