I can’t remember the last time I used ice cube trays to make ice cubes in my freezer. Many of you reading this might have no idea what I’m talking about because, well, this just dates me and you were probably born after every refrigerator had ice makers in them. I bought these decades ago and used them for my homemade baby food (yup! I did that! Call me SuperMom!) If you don’t own any, don’t fret. I’m pretty sure you’ll find this handy little ice making kitchen classic at the Dollar Store.
I decided to make these fruit cubes, little cute sweet bricks of freshness and flavor with some extra fruits I had laying around in my refrigerator. I chose lemons, oranges and raspberries, but you can use anything you want, even mint leaves and cucumbers. It’s just a little fun touch to have around when you’re entertaining to add to your guests water glasses or even just for yourself. It will give a hint of flavor to your water or whatever beverage you choose in addition to keeping it cool. It’s really a healthy alternative to flavoring your water.
I poured water int the trays, cut up the pieces of fruit, dropped them in, and placed in the freezer.
It’s that simple.
Serving it up for company? Place in a beautiful bowl for a beautiful presentation.
Saving them to keep for when you need to pull a few out? Toss them in a big ziploc in the freezer.
Refreshing, yummy, cute, fun, healthy goodness.
