“At the Met Gala on Monday, filmmaker Gordon von Steiner (@gvsgvs) created video portraits of the iconic guests for Vogue (@voguemagazine) on a small set inspired by the event’s theme, Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. “The idea is to take the traditional photo booth and flip it on its head,” says Gordon, who lives in New York, “to create something futuristic and unexpected.” Gordon’s work always revolves around constructing a cinematic fantasy through fashion. “The viewer is brought out of normalcy into a world where characters move and behave in bizarre and beautiful ways,” Gordon says. “It’s my goal to evoke an emotional reaction in the viewer and not question why the woman is dancing alone in the mansion or having an out of body experience as she touches a handbag.”
